Frances O'Leary - Land Use and Earth Observation Specialist

Fran is a land use and earth observation specialist with experience consulting on the development of carbon projects across the tropics. She has expertise in remote sensing, GIS and data analysis and a background in tropical ecology and natural resource management. Her work as a consultant has included reviewing and developing project design documentation, technical specifications, survey design and land cover maps for agroforestry and REDD+ projects. She has practical field experience supporting conservation projects in Tanzania, Paraguay and Greece and has experience working in marine, wetland, dry forest, savanna, and upland landscapes. Fran has worked with NGO’s, governmental bodies, and private companies on a range of conservation, natural resource management and monitoring projects. She is currently pursuing a PhD using earth observation and computational approaches to map the distribution and carbon dynamics of dry forests in the tropics.
