Background:
TLLG was established in 2017 by a group of environmental and social experts with an interest in supporting the development of nature-based solutions to global environmental and humanitarian challenges. Our team of experts continues to expand enabling us to support a growing number of projects and programmes at all stages of their development including design, implementation, evaluation, and applying lessons learned.
We provide support across three thematic areas:

Natural Climate Solutions - protection, restoration, and improved land management actions that increase carbon storage and/or avoid greenhouse gas emissions from forests, wetlands, grasslands, and agricultural lands.

Forest and Landscape Restoration –restoring ecological functionality and enhancing human well-being across deforested or degraded forest landscapes.

Biodiversity Conservation – protecting and preserving species, habitats, ecosystems, and genetic diversity.
TLLG are currently working with agriculture and forestry carbon projects in Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America, that are certified or seeking certification by the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Climate Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCBS), Gold Standard and Plan Vivo Standard.
We are looking for freelance consultants to join our project teams working on carbon project development. We have roles for consultants and junior consultants that meet the requirements below. For the right candidates, there are opportunities for progression within TLLG to Associate and Partner level.
Responsibilities:
Carbon Project Consultants take a leading role in areas of project development relevant to their expertise, with oversight from a team leader. Potential roles within a project development team include providing support with:

Land cover change assessment and/or tree growth and carbon modeling;

Stakeholder engagement and free, prior and informed consent;

High conservation value assessment and biodiversity monitoring; and
-
Livelihoods and socio-economic assessment and monitoring.
Carbon project development consultants work closely with project developers providing the support they need to design projects and draft project documents that meet the requirements of relevant carbon standards and international environmental and social safeguard frameworks.
Requirements:

At least 3-years’ experience of carbon, conservation or restoration project development and/or auditing
-
In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following carbon standards VCS, CCB, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo

Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following thematic areas:

Land cover change assessment and/or tree growth and carbon modelling
-
Stakeholder engagement and free, prior and informed consent
-
High conservation value assessment and biodiversity monitoring
-
Livelihoods and socioeconomic assessment and monitoring
-
Environmental and social safeguards.

Ability to produce high-quality reports in English.
Desirable:
-
Experience drafting Project Documents and/or Monitoring reports for AFOLU carbon projects

Experience in methodology development for AFOLU carbon projects
-
Ability to communicate in one or more of the following languages: French, Spanish, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia.
