Restoring degraded landscapes to benefit ecosystems and improve local livelihoods

Healthy ecosystems provide a broad range of services to local and global communities. Degradation of forests, savannahs, rangelands, agricultural land, oceans, coastal areas and freshwater sources, therefore threaten the livelihoods and wellbeing of all who depend on them. Reversing degradation and restoring ecosystems is, therefore, a global priority.

TLLG work with scientists and resource users to understand local drivers of degradation and design interventions to address them. We draw on landscape approaches and Forest and Landscape Restoration methodologies to assess the costs and benefits of potential interventions and design approaches that meet the needs of local communities while also contributing to global restoration targets.
